Etiquette of Seeking Knowledge

In this lecture Dr Bilal Philips talks about Seeking Knowledge in the Light of Islam and that Allah (swt) in the Glorious Quran, the first guidance that he gave to the whole of humankind was not to pray, it was not to perform Hajj but the first guidance given by Allah in the Glorious Quran to the whole of humankind was Iqra, it was to read, it was to recite, it was to proclaim!

An article in English from the book "Commentary on the Forty Hadith of al-Nawawi,” written by Sh. Jamal Zarabozo in which he interprets verse no. 33 in Surat Al-A’raf in which Allah says, "Say, 'My Lord has only forbidden immoralities - what is apparent of them and what is concealed - and sin, and oppression without right, and that you associate with Allah that for which He has not sent down authority, and that you say about Allah that which you do not know.'"

An article in English in which Dr. Saleh As-Saleh shows the categories of people in benefitting the Islamic knowledge as Imam Ibn Al-Qayyem explained the Prophetic hadith, “The guidance and knowledge with which God has commissioned me are like abundant rain which fell on some ground. Part of it was good, and absorbing the water, it brought forth abundant herbage and pasture; and there were some bare patches in it which retained the water by which God gave benefit to men, who drank, gave drink and sowed seed. But some of it fell on another portion which consisted only of hollows which could not retain the water or produce herbage. That is like the one who becomes versed in God’s religion and receives benefit from the message entrusted to me by God, so he knows for himself and teaches others ; and it is like the one who does not show regard to that and does not accept God’s guidance with which I have been commissioned.”

A book translated into English collects about 200 hadiths written by Imam Al-Bughdady. They are hadiths of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), his companions, and companions' followers. The book's introduction is about the question about life on the Day of Resurrection and the command to act based on one's authentic Islamic knowledge.

Sh. Muhammad ibn Saleh Al-Utheimeen said, "I sincerely advise, myself first, and my Muslim brothers, especially the students of knowledge not to make haste and be quick when a new issue befalls a person until he verifies the situation, gains knowledge and then speaks, so that he does not speak about Allah without knowledge."

About the virtue of knowledge and scholars and that scholars are alive through their knowledge although they are dead.The true knowledge which makes its owner fears Allah as anyone who disobeys Allah is ignorant while every obedient to Him is a scholar.

Explanation Of The Book Of Haliat Talb Al Alam(The Ornament Of Knowledge Seeker)written by its writer sheikh Baker Ibn Abdullah Abu Zaid may Allaah has protect him and explained by sheikh Ibn Othaimeen may Allaah has mercy upon him who started his explanation on the twenty second of Rajab of year 1415 a.h. This book is a small book that includes the etiquettes and the plagues contradicting them of knowledge seeker. Whenever anyone loses an etiquette he gains a plague so the sheikh had collected this book from the etiquette of rightly guided scholars

In this book, Sh. Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjed shows a useful way to benefit from reading books. At first, he explains why we read books and the reasons of some people’s being away from reading books. He also talks about how to have a useful library and preserve it.
