(1) 1. I (Allah) swear by the Mount (of Sinai, where I spoke to Moses),
(2) 2. And by a Scripture Inscribed (the Qur’an).
(3) 3. In parchment spread open,
(4) 4. And by the House (of worship) that is visited frequently (by the angels i.e., the House of worship above the Ka’bah in the heavens, or the Ka’bah in Makkah),
(5) 5. And by the canopy (sky) raised high.
(6) 6. And by the sea ever filled (with water).
(7) 7. Most surely the Chastisement of (Allah) your Lord will come to pass;
(8) 8. There shall be none to avert it;
(9) 9. On the Day when the sky will move with circular motion.
(10) 10. And the mountains will pass on departing (as clouds, and becoming scattered dust).
(11) 11. So woe on that Day to those who deny (the Truth and oppose the Peace),
(12) 12. Who are in (vain) discourse amusing themselves (by following their lowly desires).
(13) 13. The Day on which they will be thrust down to the Fire of Hell with (an irresistible) thrusting, (and will be told):
(14) 14. This is the Hellfire which you used to deny.
(15) 15. Is it (this Chastisement) delusion then or do you not see?
(16) 16. Enter (to) burn therein, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be recompensed only (for) what you used to do (of evil).
(17) 17. Surely those who keep to the Commandments of Allah and guard against evil will be in Gardens and Bliss,
(18) 18. Rejoicing because of what their Lord (Allah) gave them, and (Allah) their Lord saved them from the Torment of the Hellfire.
(19) 19. (They will be told): Eat and drink pleasantly for what you used to do (of righteousness).
(20) 20. Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We shall marry them to beautiful ones with wide lovely eyes.
(21) 21. And (as for) those who believe and their offspring who follow them in Faith (in Allah and His messenger Muhammad), We shall unite them with their offspring and We shall not deprive them of anything of their (good) deeds; every person is responsible for that which he has earned.
(22) 22. And We shall provide them with whatever fruit and meat they desire.
(23) 23.They will pass therein from one to another a cup (of pure wine) which will not give rise to idle(or vile) talk,nor incite to sin.
(24) 24. And round them will go boys of theirs (serving them) as if they were hidden pearls.
(25) 25. And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other.
(26) 26. Saying: Before, we were surely afraid with our families (from the Torment of Allah).
(27) 27. But Allah has been Gracious to us, and He has saved us from the Torment of the Scorching Wind:
(28) 28. Surely we used to invoke Him (Allah alone and none else) before: Surely He is the Benevolent, the Most Merciful.
(29) 29. So (continue to) remind (them), for you are not, by the Favor of (Allah) your Lord, a soothsayer or one possessed (by a spirit).
(30) 30. Or do they say: (He is) a poet, we wait for him some calamity by time.
(31) 31. Say: Wait (for my end), for surely I am too with you of those who wait (yours).
(32) 32. Or do their minds command them to make this (accusation)? Or is it that they are a transgressing people (opposing the Truth and the Peace)?
(33) 33. Or do they say: He (Muhammad) has invented it (the Qur’an). Rather, they do not believe.
(34) 34. Then let them bring a (Divine) Statement like it (this Qur’an) if they are truthful.
(35) 35. Or have they themselves been created without anything, or are they the creators?
(36) 36. Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain.
(37) 37. Or have they the treasures of (Allah) your Lord with them? Or have they been set in absolute authority?
(38) 38. Or have they the means (into the heaven) by which they listen? Then let their listener bring some compelling proof.
(39) 39. Or has He daughters (as you claim), while you have sons?
(40) 40. Or do you (O Prophet Muhammad) ask them for a payment (for the Message) so that they are overburdened by debt?
(41) 41. Or have they (access to the Master Record in) the unseen, so that they write (it) down?
(42) 42. Or do they intend a plot (against you O Prophet)? But those who (persist in) disbelief are themselves in a plot.
(43) 43. Or have they a god other than Allah? Glory be to Allah from all that they ascribe as partners (to Him).
(44) 44. And if they were to see a piece of the sky falling down, they would say: A heap of clouds.
(45) 45. Leave them then till they face that Day of theirs wherein they will be stricken (with dread):
(46) 46. The Day on which their guile will not benefit them anything, nor they will be helped.
(47) 47. And surely those who work iniquity (by associating partners with Allah) shall have a torment besides that (in the world), but most of them do not know.
(48) 48. And wait patiently for the Decree of (Allah) your Lord, for surely you are before Our Eyes (under Our Care and Protection), and glorify (Allah) your Lord with praise whenever you get up;
(49) 49. And in a part of the night, glorify Him too, and after the setting of the stars (at early dawn).
