70 - Al-Ma'aarij ()

|

(1) 1. One demanding, demanded a Torment which is bound to befall,

(2) 2. To the disbelievers - there is none to avert it,

(3) 3. (It is) from Allah - the Lord of the Ways of Ascent.

(4) 4. To Him ascends the angels and the (holy) spirit (Gabriel) in a Day the measure of which is fifty thousand years.

(5) 5. Therefore be patient with a beautiful patience (in which there is no anguish or complain).

(6) 6. Surely they see it (the Day of Resurrection and Judgment) to be far away,

(7) 7. But We see it quite near.

(8) 8. On the Day when the sky will be as molten copper.

(9) 9. And the mountains will be like tufts of wool.

(10) 10. And no friend will ask (anything of) a friend,

(11) 11. (Though) they will be made to see each other. The wicked person would desire to ransom himself from the Torment of that Day by (sacrificing) his children,

(12) 12. And his wife and his brother,

(13) 13. And his nearest kindred who sheltered him,

(14) 14. And all those that on the earth, (wishing) then, (that) this might save him.

(15) 15. No! Surely it is a flaming Fire,

(16) 16. Stripping off the skin of one's head (and the flesh from one's bones),

(17) 17. It will claim him who turned and fled (from the Truth),

(18) 18.And amassed (wealth) then hoarded (it).

(19) 19. Surely man is created of a hasty temperament,

(20) 20. Despairing and impatient when evil afflicts him,

(21) 21. And miserly when good touches him,

(22) 22. Except those who pray (to Allah alone, i.e., the believers),

(23) 23. Who are constant in their prayer,

(24) 24. Those in whose wealth there is a known right (- a fixed portion).

(25) 25. For the one who asks (for help) and the deprived.

(26) 26. And who believe in the Day of Judgment (Requital).

(27) 27. And who are fearful of the Torment of their (true) Lord (Allah).

(28) 28. Surely the Torment of their Lord (Allah), none may ever feel safe from.

(29) 29.And who guard their private parts,

(30) 30. Except from their wives or those whom their right hands possess (through rightful legal ways), for surely, they are not to be blamed,

(31) 31. But he who seeks to go beyond this, these it is who are the transgressors.

(32) 32. And who are faithful to their trusts and their promise,

(33) 33. And who are upright in their testimonies,

(34) 34. And who (carefully) maintain their prayer,

(35) 35. These will be in Gardens, honored.

(36) 36. But what is the matter with those who disbelieve (in the Truth) that they hasten on around you,

(37) 37. On the right hand and on the left, in groups?

(38) 38. Does every one of them expect to enter the Garden of Bliss.

(39) 39. By no means! Surely We have created them of what they know (i.e., an unworthy seminal fluid. Yet they are arrogant, neglectful of the Hereafter).

(40) 40. And by the Lord (Allah) of all the (points in the) East and the West (and what is in them, of the sun and the moon and the constellations) that We are certainly Able;

(41) 41. To replace them with better than them, and never shall We be overcome.

(42) 42. Therefore leave them alone to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised;

(43) 43. The Day on which they will come forth from their graves in haste, as if they were toward an erected idol, hastening.

(44) 44. Their eyes cast down; humiliation will cover them. That is the Day which they were promised.
