(1) 1. When the great (indisputable) Event occurs.
(2) 2. There is, at its occurrence, no denial.
(3) 3. It will bring down (some), and raise up (others),
(4) 4. When the earth is shaken with a (severe) shaking,
(5) 5. And the mountains are broken down, crumbling,
(6) 6. So that they become as scattered dust.
(7) 7. And you will be of three kinds.
(8) 8. Then (as to) those of the right hand; how happy are those of the right hand!
(9) 9. And (as to) those of the left hand; how wretched are those of the left hand!
(10) 10. And the foremost (in Faith and good deeds) will be the foremost,
(11) 11. These are the ones who are drawn near (to Allah),
(12) 12. In Gardens of Bliss,
(13) 13. A multitude of of those (foremost) will be from the early generations (who embraced Islam).
(14) 14. And a few of the later generations,
(15) 15. On thrones woven (with gold and precious stones),
(16) 16. Reclining on them, facing one another,
(17) 17. Round about them will go youths never altering in age (serving them),
(18) 18. With cups and jugs and a glass (of pure wine) from a flowing spring;
(19) 19. They will not be affected with headache thereby, nor will they get exhausted.
(20) 20. And (they shall have) fruits such as they choose,
(21) 21. And the flesh of fowl such as they desire.
(22) 22. And (for them are) fair women, with wide (beautiful) lovely eyes,
(23) 23. Like preserved pearls.
(24) 24. A reward for what they used to do (of righteous deeds).
(25) 25. They will not hear therein vain or sinful speech,
(26) 26. Except the (greeting) word: 'Peace, peace.'
(27) 27. And those of the right hand; how happy will be those of the right hand!
(28) 28. (They will be) amid thornless lote-trees,
(29) 29. And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another.
(30) 30. And extended shade,
(31) 31. And water flowing constantly,
(32) 32. And abundant fruit,
(33) 33. Neither intercepted nor forbidden,
(34) 34. And (with them will be their spouses) on beds raised high.
(35) 35. Surely We have created (their spouses before in the world, who entered with them to Paradise) of special creation,
(36) 36. Then made them virgins,
(37) 37. Loving - equal in age,
(38) 38. For those of the right hand.
(39) 39. A multitude of the earlier Muslim nations;
(40) 40. And a multitude of this nation.
(41) 41. And those of the left hand (whose records are given from their left side - the people of hell), how wretched are those of the left hand!
(42) 42. (They will be) in a fierce hot wind and boiling water,
(43) 43. And the shade of black smoke,
(44) 44. Neither cool nor honorable.
(45) 45. Surely, before that, they indulged in luxury.
(46) 46. And they persisted in the major sin (of joining partners in worship along with Allah).
(47) 47. And they used to say: When we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised up (from the dead)?
(48) 48. And also our forefathers?
(49) 49. Say: Yes, those of old, and those of later times,
(50) 50. Will most surely be gathered together for the appointed meeting of a known Day (to Allah alone).
(51) 51. Then indeed you, O those astray (who are) deniers (of Resurrection and Judgment)!
(52) 52. Most surely will eat of a tree of Zaqqum,
(53) 53. And fill (your) bellies with it;
(54) 54. Then drink on top of it boiling water;
(55) 55. And drink as the drinking of thirsty camels.
(56) 56. This is their welcome on the Day of Recompense.
(57) 57. We have created you, why do you not then believe?
(58) 58. Have you considered the (human semen) that you emit?
(59) 59. Is it you that create it or are We (Allah) the Creators?
(60) 60. We (Allah) have decreed death among you and We are not to be overcome,
(61) 61. In order that We may change your forms and create you (again) in (forms) that you know not.
(62) 62. And certainly you have already known the first form of creation; why do you then not remember?
(63) 63. Have you considered what you sow?
(64) 64. Is it you that cause it to grow, or are We (Allah) the Causers of growth?
(65) 65. If We willed, We certainly could make it dried grass scattered into pieces; then you would be left in wonderment.
(66) 66. (Saying): We are indeed punished (and are at gross loss by the departing of our wealth).
(67) 67. Rather we are deprived.
(68) 68. Have you considered the water which you drink?
(69) 69. Is it you that send it down from the clouds, or are We (Allah) the Senders?
(70) 70. If We willed, We could make it salty; why do you not then give thanks?
(71) 71. Have you considered the fire which you kindle?
(72) 72. Is it you that produce the trees for it, or are We (Allah) the producers?
(73) 73. We (Allah) have made it a reminder and a benefit for the travelers (and for all of mankind).
(74) 74. Therefore praise highly and glorify the Name of (Allah) your Lord, the Most Great.
(75) 75. Then I (Allah) swear by the setting of the stars;
(76) 76. And most surely it is a great oath, if you only knew;
(77) 77. Most surely it is a noble Qur’an,
(78) 78. In a Book well guarded (the Preserved Tablet),
(79) 79. None will touch it except the purified ones (the angels).
(80) 80. (It is) a Revelation from (Allah) the Lord of all that exists.
(81) 81. Do you then hold this (Divine) Statement in light esteem?
(82) 82. And make denial thereof your means of livelihood (from Allah)?
(83) 83. Why is it not then that when it (the soul) comes up to the throat?
(84) 84. And you at that time look on,
(85) 85. And We (with Our Knowledge and Our angels who take the souls) are nearer to it than you, but you do not see.
(86) 86. Then why do you not - if you are exempt from the Reckoning -
(87) 87. Bring back the soul (to its body), if you are truthful?
(88) 88. Then if he is one of those drawn near (to Allah),
(89) 89. Then (for him is) rest and bounty and a Garden of Bliss.
(90) 90. And if he is one of those of the right hand,
(91) 91. Then (the angels will say): Peace be upon you, for (you are) from those of the right hand.
(92) 92. But if he was of the deniers, the astray,
(93) 93. He will have a welcome of boiling water,
(94) 94. And of burning in Hellfire.
(95) 95. Most surely this is the absolute Truth with certainty.
(96) 96. Therefore praise highly and glorify the Name of (Allah) your Lord, the Most Great.
