(1) 1. (The Qur’an is in the Arabic language which consists of Arabic letters such as:) Alif Laam Meem. (Yet no one can produce even the shortest Chapter of the miraculous wonder of the Qur’an.)
(2) 2. The Byzantines (Romans) have been overcome.
(3) 3. In the nearer (and lowest) land (Palestine, Syria and Jordan), and they (the Romans who were followers of the earlier Scripture) after their defeat, they shall overcome (the Persians, who were Zoroastrians at that time),
(4) 4. Within a few years, with Allah is the Command before and after; and on that day the believers will rejoice,
(5) 5. In the Victory of Allah. He gives victory to whom He wills, and He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful;
(6) 6. (This is) Allah’s Promise! Allah fails not in His Promise, but most people do not know.
(7) 7. They (the deniers of the Truth) know what is apparent of this worldly life, but of the Hereafter they are heedless.
(8) 8. Do they not reflect within themselves? Allah did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them except in truth, and (for) an appointed term. And most surely many of the people are deniers of the Meeting of their (True) Lord (Allah).
(9) 9. Have they not traveled in the earth, and seen how was the end of those before them? They were stronger than them in power, and cultivated the earth and built on it more than they built, and there came to them their Messengers (of God) with clear Proofs. Surely, Allah was not unjust to them, but they were unjust to their own selves (by transgressing the rights of their Creator).
(10) 10. Then evil was the end of those who did evil (the polytheists, disbelievers, etc.), because they denied the Revelations of Allah, and made mockery of them.
(11) 11. Allah originates the creation then He will repeat it (i.e., raise it to life again), then to Him you shall (all) be returned (for Judgment).
(12) 12. And the Day when the Last Hour (the Day of Resurrection and Judgment) comes, the wicked will be in despair.
(13) 13. And they will not have any intercessors from among their (false) gods they have made equal with Allah, and they will be deniers of their associate-gods.
(14) 14. And the Day when the Last Hour (the Day of Resurrection) comes, that Day they will be separated one from the other.
(15) 15. Then as to those who believed and did righteous deeds, they will be made happy in a Garden of Delight.
(16) 16. And as for those who disbelieved and denied Our Signs and the Meeting of the Hereafter, these will be brought forth to the Torment.
(17) 17. So Glorify Allah with praise when you enter the evening and when you enter the morning.
(18) 18. And to Him (Allah) belongs all the praise in the heavens and the earth, and (glorify Him with praise) at nightfall, and when you are at midday.
(19) 19. He brings forth the living from the dead, and brings forth the dead from the living, and gives life to the earth after its death, and thus you shall be brought forth.
(20) 20. And among Allah’s Signs is that He created you from dust, then at once you are human beings (who) scatter.
(21) 21. And among His Signs is that He created wives for you from yourselves that you may find rest in them, and He placed between you affection and mercy. Most surely there are Signs in this for a people who reflect.
(22) 22. And among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and the diversity of your tongues (languages) and colors. Most surely there are Signs in this for those who have knowledge.
(23) 23. And among His Signs is your sleeping by night and (by) day, and your seeking of His bounty. Most surely there are Signs in this for a people who listen.
(24) 24. And among His Signs is that He shows you lightning for fear and for hope, and sends down water from the clouds, then gives life therewith to the earth after its death. Most surely there are Signs in this for a people who understand.
(25) 25. And among His Signs is that the sky and the earth subsist by His Command, then when He calls you with a (single) call from out of the earth, at once you come forth.
(26) 26. And to Him (Allah alone) belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth; all are obedient to Him.
(27) 27. And He it is Who originates creation, then He will repeat it (i.e., raise it to life again for Judgment), and it is easy for Him; and His are the Most Exalted Attributes in the heavens and the earth, and He (Allah) is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.
(28) 28. He sets forth to you a parable relating to yourselves: Have you among your servants (those whom your right hands possess) any partners in what We have provided for you (of sustenance), so that you are equal therein; you fear them as you fear men like you (so how can you make some of God’s servants partners to Him)? Thus does Allah make the Signs distinct for a people who understand.
(29) 29. But those who work iniquity (who associate others with Allah in worship) merely follow their low desires without any (Divine) Knowledge; so who will guide him whom Allah has left astray (because of his arrogance and persistence in sin)? And for such there will be no helpers(intercessors).
(30) 30. So direct your face towards the upright religion - the natural disposition which Allah has placed in (all) people - there is no altering of Allah’s creation - that is the right religion (Islam), but most people do not know.
(31) 31. (Adhere to it) turning to Allah (frequently in repentance and obedience), and be careful of (your duty to) Him, and perform the prayer perfectly (at their prescribed times) and be not of the polytheists.
(32) 32. Of those (denominations: Chatolicism, Protestantism, Orthodoxy, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, etc.), who separated from (the teachings of) their (True) religion (Islam)and became (dissenting) sects, every sect rejoicing in what they have with them; (all of them will be in the Hellfire except those who follow the Truth).
(33) 33. And when harm afflicts people, they call upon their (True) Lord (Allah), turning to Him (frequently in repentance and obedience), then when He makes them taste of Mercy from Him, at once some of them begin to associate (others) with their (True) Lord (Allah),
(34) 34. So as to be ungrateful for what We (Allah) have given them; but enjoy yourselves (for a while), for you shall soon come to know (the result of this behavior).
(35) 35. Or, have We sent down upon them an authority so that it speaks of that which they associate with Allah?
(36) 36. And when We (Allah) make people taste of Mercy, they rejoice in it, and if some bad event befalls them for what their hands have sent forth (of sins), immediately they are in despair.
(37) 37. Do they not see that Allah makes ample provision for whom He wills and straitens (it for whom He wills)? Most surely there are Signs in this for a people who believe.
(38) 38. So give the close relative his due (and the neighbor), and to the needy and the (stranded) traveler; this is best for those who desire the Countenance of Allah, and these are the ones who make their way prosperous.
(39) 39. And whatever you may give out as usury (interest), so that it may increase through (other) people’s wealth, will bring you no increase with Allah; but whatever you give in charity, desiring the Countenance of Allah - it is these (people) that will get a recompense multiplied.
(40) 40. Allah is He Who created you, then gave you sustenance, then He causes you to die, then brings you to life(again to be Judged). Is there any of your associate-gods who do anything of it? Glory be to Him, and exalted be He (Allah) above what they associate (with Him as partners).
(41) 41. Corruption has appeared in the land and at sea for what the hands of people have earned (of sins), that He may make them taste a part of that which they have done, so that they may return (to what is right and just).
(42) 42. Say: Travel in the land, then see how was the end of those before (you); most of them were polytheists.
(43) 43. So set your face toward the right religion (of Islam) before there comes from Allah a Day which cannot be averted; on that Day they will become separated.
(44) 44. Whoever disbelieves (in the Oneness of Allah), he will be responsible for his disbelief, and whoever does (what is) right (and just), for themselves they are preparing (good - for their Hereafter).
(45) 45. That He (Allah) may reward those who believe and do righteous deeds out of His Bounty; surely He does not like the disbelievers.
(46) 46. And among Allah’s Signs is that He sends forth the winds bearing good tidings (of rain), to let you taste of His Mercy, so that the ships may sail by His Command, so that you may seek of His bounty, and so that you may be grateful.
(47) 47. And certainly We sent before you (O Prophet Muhammad) Messengers to their people, so they came to them with clear Proofs, then We (Allah) took retribution from those who were unbelievers, and helping the believers is ever incumbent on Us.
(48) 48. Allah is He Who sends forth the winds so they raise a cloud, then He spreads it forth in the sky as He wills, and He breaks it up so that you see the rain coming forth from inside it; then when He causes it to fall upon whom He wills of His slaves (of mankind and jinn), immediately they are joyful.
(49) 49. Though they were before this (rain), just before it was sent down upon them, in sure despair.
(50) 50. Look then at the effects of Allah’s Mercy, how He gives life to the earth after its death, most surely He will raise the dead to life; and He is able to do all things.
(51) 51. And if We (Allah) send a wind and they see (their crops) turn yellow, they would certainly become thereafter ungrateful (unbelievers).
(52) 52. For surely you cannot make the dead to hear, and you cannot make the deaf hear the call, when they turn their backs and go away.
(53) 53. Nor can you guide the blind out of their error. You cannot make anyone to hear except those who believe in Our Verses, and thus submit themselves to Allah (God).
(54) 54. Allah is He Who created you from a state of weakness, then He gave strength after weakness, then after strength gave you weakness and white hair; He creates what He wills, and He is the All-Knowing, the Most Powerful.
(55) 55. And on the Day when the Last Hour (the Day of Resurrection) will come, the unbelievers will swear (that) they did not stay but an hour; thus are they ever turned away (from the Truth).
(56) 56. Those who are given (right) knowledge and faith will say: Certainly you have stayed according to the Decree of Allah till the Day of Resurrection (and Judgment), so this is the Day of Resurrection, but you did not know.
(57) 57. So on that Day their excuse will not benefit those who did iniquity (by associating partners in worship with Allah, and by denying the Day of Resurrection and Judgment), nor will they be allowed to appease (Allah).
(58) 58. And certainly We have set forth for the people every kind of example in the Qur’an; but if you (O Prophet Muhammad) bring them any Sign, those who disbelieve (in the Truth) would certainly say: You (believers) are but making false claims.
(59) 59. Thus does Allah set a seal on the hearts of those who do not (seek to) know (truth from fallacy).
(60) 60. Therefore be patient; surely the Promise of Allah is true and let not those who have no certainty (in the Hereafter) hold you in light estimation (so as to make you impatient and depart from what you are upon).
