75 - Al-Qiyaama ()

(1) 1. I (Allah) swear by the Day of Resurrection (and Judgment).

(2) 2. And I swear by the self-reproaching soul.

(3) 3. Does man think that We shall not gather his bones?

(4) 4. But yes! We are Able to restore (even) his (very) fingertips (in perfect order).

(5) 5. But man desires to continue in sin (and denies what is ahead of him).

(6) 6. He asks: When is the Day of Resurrection (and Judgment)?

(7) 7. So when the sight becomes dazed,

(8) 8. And the moon becomes dark,

(9) 9. And the sun and the moon are brought together (rising from the west and losing their lights),

(10) 10. Man will say on that Day: Where (is the refuge) to flee?

(11) 11. No! There will be no place of refuge!

(12) 12. With (Allah) your Lord alone on that Day will be the ultimate place of abode.

(13) 13. Man will on that Day be informed of what he sent ahead, and (what he) kept back (i.e., of whatever good and bad deeds he committed or omitted).

(14) 14. Rather! Man will be a witness against himself!

(15) 15. Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his misdeeds).

(16) 16. Do not move (O prophet Muhammad)  your tongue in haste (repeating what is revealed to you of the Qur'an before its completion).

(17) 17. Surely upon Us (Allah) is its collection (in your heart), and to give you the ability to recite it.

(18) 18. Therefore when We have read it to you (O prophet Muhammad), follow its recitation.

(19) 19. Then it is for Us (Allah) to make it clear (to you).

(20) 20. No! But you (disbelievers) love the present life,

(21) 21. And neglect the Hereafter.

(22) 22. (Some) faces on that Day will be bright,

(23) 23. Looking to their Lord (Allah).

(24) 24. And (other) faces on that Day will be frowning gravely, dark -

(25) 25. Knowing that some great Calamity is about to befall on them.

(26) 26. Nay! When it (the soul) comes up to the throat,

(27) 27. And it is said: Who can cure him and save him from death?

(28) 28. And he is sure that it is the (time of) departing (i.e. his death).

(29) 29. And one leg will be joined with the other (i.e., shrouded for burial).

(30) 30. To (Allah) your Lord on that Day shall be the place to which one is driven.

(31) 31. So he (the disbeliever) neither believed, nor did he pray,

(32) 32. But he denied (the Truth) and turned away (from it),

(33) 33. Then he walked in full pride to his family, admiring himself.

(34) 34. Nearer to you (is destruction) and nearer.

(35) 35. Again (consider how) nearer to you and nearer.

(36) 36. Does man think that he will be left to wander without responsibility (and not returning to Allah for Judgment)?

(37) 37. Was he not a mere drop of sperm which poured forth,

(38) 38. Then he became a clot of blood, then He (Allah) created (him) and formed (him) in due proportion.

(39) 39. Then He made from him two kinds, the male and the female.

(40) 40. Is then not He (Allah, the Sole Creator and Originator), Able to give life to the dead?
