53 - An-Najm ()

(1) 1. I (Allah) swear by the star when it goes down.

(2) 2. Your companion (the Prophet Muhammad) has not strayed, nor has he deviated;

(3) 3. Nor does he speak out of (his own) desire.

(4) 4. It is only a Revelation that is revealed (to him),

(5) 5. He has been taught by one intense in strength (Gabriel),

(6) 6. (Who is an angel), endowed with strength (of stature and mind), and he appeared (in his true form),

(7) 7. While he was in the highest part of the horizon.

(8) 8. Then he approached and descended,

(9) 9. And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer.

(10) 10. And He (Allah) revealed to His servant (the Prophet Muhammad) what He revealed.

(11) 11. The heart did not lie (about) what it saw.

(12) 12. Do you then dispute with him as to what he saw?

(13) 13. And certainly he saw him (Gabriel) in another descent,

(14) 14. At the farthest lote-tree;

(15) 15. Near to it is the Garden of Abode.

(16) 16. When there covered the lote-tree that which covered it;

(17) 17. The sight (of the Prophet Muhammad)  did not waver, nor did it transgress.

(18) 18. Certainly he saw of the greatest Signs of his Lord (Allah).

(19) 19. Have you then considered (O idolaters) the (female idols) of Lat and Uzza (that you worship or Saraswati, Lakshmi, etc),

(20) 20. And Manat, the other third (or Parvati, Tara. etc.).

(21) 21. Do you (prefer to have) males, while for Him (you attribute) females (and invent many false semi-gods such as Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, Krishna etc., besides the One and Only True God, Allah)?

(22) 22. This indeed is an unjust division!

(23) 23. They (these allegedly gods and female goddesses you worship) are nothing but names which you have named, you and your fathers - Allah has not sent for them any authority. They (who worship them)  follow nothing but conjecture and the low desires which (their) own selves incline to; and certainly the Guidance has come to them from their (True) Lord (Allah).

(24) 24. Or should (every) person have whatever (intercessors) he wishes?

(25) 25. Rather, to Allah (alone) belongs the Hereafter and the first life (therefore there is no need for any mediator or intercessor between Allah and His creatures, you should pray directly and exclusively to Him and ask only of Him your needs).

(26) 26. And how many an angel is there in the heavens whose intercession does not benefit at all except after Allah has given Permission to whom He wills and pleases.

(27) 27. Most surely those who do not believe in the Hereafter name the angels with (divine) feminine names (assuming them to be female goddesses).

(28) 28. And they (the pagans) have no (Divine) Knowledge of it;they do not follow anything but conjecture, and surely conjecture does not avail anything against the Truth.

(29) 29. Therefore turn away from him who turns his back upon Our Reminder (the Qur’an), and does not desire anything but the life of this world.

(30) 30. That is their sum of knowledge; surely your Lord (Allah) knows best him who goes astray from His Path, and He knows best him who follows His Guidance.

(31) 31. And to Allah (alone) belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, that He may recompense those who do evil according to what they do, and (that) He may reward those who do good with goodness.

(32) 32. As for those who avoid major sins and indecencies, only committing some minor slight ones; surely your Lord (Allah) is vast in Forgiveness (for them). He was Most Knowing of you when He brought you forth from the earth, and when you were embryos in the wombs of your mothers; therefore do not attribute purity to yourselves; He (Allah) knows best those who guard themselves (against evil).

(33) 33. Have you then seen him who turns his back?

(34) 34. And gives a little and (then) withholds.

(35) 35. Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see?

(36) 36. Or, has he not been informed of what is in the Scriptures of Moses?

(37) 37. And (of) Abraham who fulfilled (the Commandments):

(38) 38. That no one shall bear (responsibility for) the sin of another (unless they encourage or assist others to sin - perfect Justice from Allah),

(39) 39. And that man shall have only what he himself strives for (of good or bad deeds),

(40) 40. And that his strivings (whether good or bad) shall soon be seen (and examined) -

(41) 41. Then he shall be rewarded for it with the fullest reward,

(42) 42. And that to your Lord (Allah) is the End (and the Return of everything).

(43) 43. And that He (Allah) it is Who causes you to laugh and to weep.

(44) 44. And that He (Allah) it is Who causes death and gives life.

(45) 45. And that He (Allah) created pairs, the male and the female,

(46) 46. Out of a (mere) drop of sperm as it is poured forth.

(47) 47. And that on Him is the second creation (the Raising of the dead again to life).

(48) 48. And that He (Allah) it is Who gives wealth and contentment.

(49) 49. And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagans used to worship).

(50) 50. And that He (Allah) did destroy the ‘Aad (people) of old.

(51) 51. And (the people of) Thamud, so He spared none of them.

(52) 52. And the people of Noah before; surely they were more unjust and more oppressing.

(53) 53. And the overthrown cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah) did He overthrow,

(54) 54. So there covered them that which covered.

(55) 55. Which of the Favors of (Allah) your Lord will you then deny?

(56) 56. This is a warner (Messenger) of the (series of) warners (Messengers) of old.

(57) 57. The near event draws nearer.

(58) 58. None but Allah can unveil it.

(59) 59. Do you then wonder at this (Divine) Statement?

(60) 60. And will you laugh and not weep?

(61) 61. While you are wasting your time in vanities (and indulging in amusement, idle-play,singing, and games - in heedlessness).

(62) 62.Rather(submit and)prostrate yourselves to Allah and worship (Him) alone.
